MoneyMoz is a personal finance and money saving site and is independent of financial groups or their advisors. We like to encourage people – both experts and others – to send in helpful money saving articles and tips.
Why the name MoneyMoz? Well, to put it bluntly, all the good ‘money saving’ names were taken in the domain name land grab many years ago. However, I thought of MoneyMoz because it is kind of modern and interesting and doesn’t really mean anything specific. ‘Moz’ does seem familiar though? Perhaps there are overtones of DMOZ – The Open Directory Project from the BG days of the Internet (Before Google) when it was the largest and most trusted comprehensive human-edited directory of the Web. Moz also of course has echoes of Mozilla Firefox, the great browser which was such a breath of fresh air after Internet Explorer. I’m also familiar with a music project called MusicMoz, a volunteer-run listing of music-related reviews, articles, factual information, biographies, and websites.
What do DMOZ, Firefox and MusicMoz all have in common? – TRUST and OPENNESS. So perhaps I was wrong to say that all the good names were taken.
So on the theme of trust and openess, I must point out that any decisions you make based on articles on the MoneyMoz are made at your own risk!
