Workout at home without any Gym equipment

Going to the gym can be an expensive business, especially if you have joined one and never go.There are alternatives ways to exercise and get fit that does not require you to join a gym or buy expensive gym equipment.

This article will look at some of the exercise that you can do at home.

Walking/Running

Some people say that walking a mile is just as good as running a mile, this is not far from the truth.

If you run a mile you can burn up to 125 calories, however walking a mile will burn an average of 100 calories. This exercise is best taking alone because if you have a walking/running partner you will find that you can only go at the pace of your partner.

To help keep you motivated with this activity why not add some good running tunes to your iPod such as Flo Rida’s “Right Round” or even Katy Perry’s “Hot N Cold”

Jumping Jacks

Why not roll the years back to your child hood, not only is this an excellent way to warm up before you start exercising.

Jumping Jacks will help to burn calories they also function as cardiovascular, strengthening and stress relieving exercises.

Pushups

This is not a favourite exercise for many people and you do not need to lie on the floor to do them.

Pushups can be done by leaning on a wall and just simply push yourself away from the wall until your arms are straight whilst keeping your legs locked in position, then slowly move back in to the wall.

This will help to build strength in your arms, which could then lead to you doing pushups on the floor.

Leg Lifts

This can be done whilst you are sitting watching the television; this exercise is good for building up strength in your legs.

Keep your legs straight and slowly lift them and hold in position for a count of six, then slowly lower your legs repeat this for a period of 10 minutes.

Squats

Designed for your legs and buttocks and can be done anywhere in the house, either against a wall or in the middle of the room.

Standing straight slowly crouch down keeping your back straight hold in position that you are comfortable with for a count of five slowly straighten up try to do these in three blocks of 15.

Light Weight Lifting

For this exercise, you do not have to go out and buy a set of weights, as you will be able to find suitable objects in the house.

Simply take some tins of food from the cupboard and put them in a carrier bag try to use tins of the same size put them in a carrier bag.

Keeping your arms straight at your sides either slowly move your arms out sideways until they are straight out on either side, slowly drop your arms taking care that the tins don’t crash in to your legs.

Alternatively instead of out to the side slowly lift your arms in front of you.

Dancing

This is a fun exercise for all the family and all you need to do is get some good dancing tunes on and clear a space in the room and get the whole family up.

Step Exercise

This is another exercise that you can be done whilst watching television if you have a small enough stool to step on and off, however you can simply use the step at your front door.
